The World Health Organization, WHO, decided to stop research into the use of Hydroxychloroquine for Corona virus patients (COVID-19). This follows the results of recent research that confirms the fear of medical experts that hydroxychloroquine is not a potential to restore the condition of Corona patients, but worsen it.

Although it decided to stop the Hydroxychloroquine research, WHO did not rule out the possibility of continuing the study. WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said an independent evaluation was being conducted to re-examine data related to the use of Hydroxychloroquine for Corona patients.

“The executive council (only) suspended the Hydroxychloroquine study while the Data Security Oversight Board was examining existing data,” Ghebreyesus was quoted as saying by CNN, Tuesday, May 26, 2020.

Previously, various medical experts have warned that Hydroxychloroquine, which is a malaria drug, should not be used against Corona virus patients. “I can say that Hydroxychloroquine, in general, is safe to use for patients with auto-immune disease or malaria,” Ghebreyesus stressed.

In response to the WHO decision, the Bolsonaro Government decided not to stop using Hydroxychloroquine on Corona virus patients (COVID-19). This was reiterated by the Brazilian Ministry of Health.

“We remain calm and nothing will change,” the Brazilian Ministry of Health’s press statement said.
